What would you do if...
by: Rev. Kelvin N. Broadus
Glory to God, and welcome here once again for the sharing of God's Word. I want
to start in a different way by first reading the scripture without any
foreword. I pray that you all receive this word with anointing and the presence
of God that your spirit is fed through the Holy Spirit, in Jesus Christ's holy
name, amen. Please turn in your Bibles to St. Luke 23:28-34
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but
weep for yourselves, and for your children. (29)For behold, the days are
coming, in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that
never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. (30)Then shall they begin to
say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. (31)For if they
do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?.... (34)Then
said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
That is the main thing I wanted you to see from that part, but I'd suggest you
read more on your own. Take a look at this. Jesus said, weep not for me but for
yourselves and your children. I want to compare this to modern days as I
deliver this message of what would you do. How often is it that we sympathize
more over others than we do ourselves, and there is nothing wrong with that,
but check out this example. In this country we try to raise so much to help all
over the world, and we have not put any sort of end to the poverty levels,
pain, killing, stealing, raping, hate, crime, etc. in our own country. Though
we can help others we also must look out for ourselves also, because we cannot
help other to the best of our ability if we are in shambles ourselves. That is,
we could do tons more for others if we were "right" ourselves.
In response to Jesus saying weep for yourselves, we should weep for ourselves
and our children. Most of the problems in this world are due to corruption,
weakness, greed, and negativity of man. And no doubt that it is good to be
barren, for in a way, why should we want to bring an innocent life into this
world of pain and suffering. Don't take that the wrong way. I say that to bring
up the thought of the type of world, which we are creating for the future
generations and ourselves for that matter. It is us that are out there
destroying the Earth with pollution and waste. It is us out there refusing to
help out our brothers in need. It is us out there committing crime against
ourselves. You make the choice to steal, you make the choice to fornicate, you
make the choice to kill, you make the choice to cheat, and you make the choice
to do wrong. God is faithful and will always provide a way out of sinful
situations. And yet we still keep trying to point the finger at everybody else.
Even worse is the result of our actions that our kids have to suffer with.
Because you made the bad choice your kid now has to grow up without his father,
or mother, or surrounded by drugs and violence, feeling unloved and abused.
Because you made the bad choice, your grandchild now can barely breathe good
air. Because we are providing poor examples for the next generations, society
continues to get worse and worse. Our bad deeds cause us, our kids, and other
people to hurt and suffer. How can you give to others what you don't even have
for yourself? How can you teach someone about right and wrong if your example
by action is wrong. "Do what I say and not what I do" is played out.
Leadership must come from example.
Jesus prayed for our forgiveness, for we know not what we do. And often times
we don't. That is where He comes in though. He is the way, the life, and the
truth. The Holy Spirit is our guide, and our comforter. Jesus came that we
might be saved. From what we may ask? From OURSELVES. I say it often because it
is true, we are our biggest enemy. The Word tells us that the flesh is evil.
The importance of the Holy knowledge is so that we may overcome the body. Our
spirits are to be in charge of our bodies, not the other way around. Conquer
that flesh, and conquer the forces of Satan. It is possible because we are more
than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Everything that we need to overpower sin
is provided to us. We just have to hold on to, obey, and live in, the Word of
God. We need to weep for ourselves, because of what we do to ourselves, but
praise the Lord, we can overcome. That flesh, and Satan & his crew must not
know who we serve. But we'll definitely teach them though, hallelujah. I don't
know about you all but I'm tired of accepting sin; we give evil too much power.
Forget that, it's time for us to take back our souls, minds, and hearts and
start living for God. Hallelujah!!! So the question remains, what will you do,
because we still got it good, and if we act this way now, what will we do when
it gets worse. Think about it. Until next time, be blessed, my brothers and
sisters, in the holy name of Jesus, amen
