Money Worship

By Rev. Kelvin N. Broadus

This week I will talk about money. It's not even funny how we get all caught up in how much money we make. It is sad that we put so much effort into making money and so little effort into saving our souls. Exodus 20:3 says, "Thou shalt

have no other gods before me." This is the first commandment. Then if you go to Matt. 22:37-38, you will read, "Jesus said unto him, though shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the

first and great commandment." The reason I am using these verses is because nowadays we seem to get so caught up in money that we forget about God. Then when we get it, we don't even have the courtesy to thank Him. Money is very

powerful in this society of ours, but the power of God is endless and immeasurable. After all, if it were not for God, nothing would exist. Often, if we received money as we wanted, we would not know how to act. This is proven so

often in our society when some of us receive money and then act like fools. Whenever we go through problems financially, maybe instead of asking for money to solve it, we should just ask God to guide us to get through the storm,

because the money we think we need is not always the best solution. God does work in mysterious ways and we, as Christians, have to acknowledge God's power, then trust that he will provide what we need to survive. Yes, to survive.

We are so spoiled that we always want luxury, forgetting the tremendous blessing it is just to have the BASIC necessities. We become blind to the fact that God doesn't owe us anything. It is by his extreme kindness that we are alive,

especially with as much sin as we do every minute of the day. We have to stop letting money control our lives. As soon as we stop worrying so much about it and put our trust in God, that He will take care of us and be in control, everything

else will be provided so that we may be happy. God loves all of us and has endless treasure for us to gain, if only we accept it humbly in Jesus name. God bless you.
