A Message to my
fellow Black Man
How can we ever expect to rise as a people if all that we do
is hate and destroy each other? Too often we have shifted the blame to the
system being against us, and all types of other injustices. Though there are
still many injustices (i.e. racial profiling, housing discrimination, other
discriminations), a lot of our current circumstances rest on us now. In order
for us to be able to overcome the issues that are there, we must first admit to
and take responsibility to our contribution to the degradation and breakdown of
our communities and lives, and then take appropriate action of change to
correct them. Let us look at some examples:
-
The greatest murderer today of the black man is the black
man. The black man kills more black men in a week than any other race does in a
year. The death of the black man is found in gang violence more than anything
else. Stop the ignorance! Repent my brethren and allow the Lord to heal our
people. (Thou shalt not kill!!!!)
-
The greatest thief today of the black man is the black man.
We are the ones carjacking our own people and robbing our own people in the
streets and in our homes. We are the ones who are always trying to hustle EACH
OTHER. We are doing this to ourselves and to each other more than any other
race is doing to us. Stop the ignorance! Repent my brethren and allow the Lord
to heal our people. (Thou shalt not steal!!!)
-
The greatest disrespect and degradation of the black man
(and especially the black woman) today, is delivered by the black man. We are
the ones calling our women, our queens, B*****s and H**s. We are the ones
disrespecting each other in the malls, on the streets, and every chance we get.
We are the ones always hating on each other, and always looking for an opportunity
to fight, and “punk out” another. Stop the ignorance! Repent my brethren and
allow the Lord to heal our people. (Love your neighbor as yourself!!!)
-
The greatest threat to the institute of marriage, and
honorable relationships, in the black race today is caused by the black man. We
brag in our music about taking another’s wife. We disrespect marriages by
trying to “hook up with” married women, and take it even further by continuing
to push even after she has said, “no, I’m married.” We continue to seek that
which is not ours to fulfill our egos and satisfy our lust-filled, evil
desires. Stop the ignorance! Repent my brethren and allow the Lord to heal our
people. (Thou shalt not covet!!!)
-
The greatest threat to the honor of the black man today is the
black man. We sell drugs to each other (and even if the “man” pumped them into
our neighborhoods, we didn’t have to start being “the man’s” agent against
ourselves). We sold out our people for money. We go to work and act ignorant
instead of professionally saying that “we’re just keeping it real,” then wonder
why others are excelling beyond us. As kids, we go through school not doing our
homework (playing) and insulting the hard working black kids and grow up not
being able to read decently, and not being able to find any decent work, but
then blame it ALL on the government. We shortcut everything and always try to
get out of our responsibilities that we created for ourselves (kids out of
wedlock, fornication, legitimate debts, trying to live beyond our means, etc.)
then blame the world for the repercussions. We have got to stop the ignorance!
Repent my brethren and allow the Lord to heal our people.
Brethren, the concern is for us as a whole. So much of what
we complain about is due to our self-destructive ways, and only through us
starting with ourselves and making change, can we ever expect to overcome any
systems set against us. We always talk about the government pumping more money
into our schools and our neighborhoods to make things better for us. They
should do this, but it will do no good if we get all of this support and mess
it right back up. I’ve seen many neighborhoods that were spectacular when
built, black neighborhoods, but then before long WE were out on the streets,
selling drugs, our kids all in the roads blocking traffic, standing on the
corner intimidating visitors. This happens over and over again. A new school
gets built with all of the latest technology, and before long our black youth
are up in there fighting, selling and using drugs on the grounds, threatening
the good teachers, spray painting gang paraphernalia, setting up territories,
etc. How can we expect the government to invest in giving us something better
if we all that we are going to do is ruin it? We need to decide first that we
want something better, and deserve something better, and then take the action
to LIVE LIKE we are worth something better. It’s time for a change black man.
All the racism in the world hardly harms us more than we harm ourselves. God
desires so much more for us, if only we’d do the same. Wake up and change for
the better.
